We ARE College Bound!

Dear Farr Families,

I hope you are enjoying a well-deserved summer break and have a chance to recharge. I want to take the opportunity to introduce myself to our Falcon Family. My name is Ms. de Santiago and it is my sincere honor to be the new Principal of Farr Avenue Elementary. It is with great enthusiasm that I join the Farr Family and form part of an amazing team of teachers, staff, students, and families. I am humbled to serve our exceptional learning community.

I am going into my seventh year as an administrator and have served in a variety of leadership roles including most recently as the Assistant Principal of a Dual Language K-8 School. I also taught Spanish, English Learners (ELs), and Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID). Being an educator is my passion because I firmly believe every student can achieve. I am excited to support our staff, students, and families who participate in the Dual Language program and those who are in the English only program. As I begin my leadership journey as the Principal at Farr Avenue Elementary, I will uphold our mission of inspiring all students to meet their greatest potential. I am dedicated to supporting our community and working together as a collaborative team to achieve great results.

I am committed to:

1. Building positive relationships with all

2. Being visible on campus and in the classrooms

3. Knowing the culture and being the culture to continue the great work that has been established

4. Continuing to our high academic expectations for all students

5. College and Career readiness to close the achievement gap

6. A positive and safe school culture

Parents as Partners:

I strongly believe that collaboration with parents is another key to success for all students and that with your support we can work as a community to build a bridge between home and school. As our partners, we ask that you support your child with the following:

1. Attend school daily, arrive on time, and be ready to learn

2. Complete all homework assignments

3. Read daily to grow their passion for reading

4. Ask them about their day and if they need additional support in specific areas

5. Remind them that they are College and Career Bound

My education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, Masters of Arts in Education, Administrative Credential and Teaching Credential from California State University San Marcos (CSUSM).

I have lived in Escondido for the last 3 years and I am committed to supporting your children reach their full potential. I know together we will continue to make Escondido a beautiful community.

I look forward to collaborating with all of you as we continue to learn and grow as a family. Thank you for the opportunity to serve our Falcon family. Let us soar together for a great school year. Go Falcons!

Respectfully,

Soo Yeohn de Santiago, M.Ed.

Proud Principal
