Good Morning Farr Falcons!

This is Mr. Herman and today is the 166th day of school, Wednesday, May 31st, 2017. The forecast calls for partly sunny skies with a high of about 72 degrees.

Today is...

Macaroon Day - a day to celebrate the unleavened cakes or cookies made of egg whites, sugar, and almond paste or coconut.

On This Day in History:

Big Ben goes into operation in London - The famous tower clock known as Big Ben, located at the top of the 320-foot-high St. Stephen’s Tower, rings out over the Houses of Parliament in Westminster, London, for the first time on this day in 1859.

Here's Your Science Fact for Today:

The human body contains metals absorbed from food or contact. The average person's body contains enough iron it in to make an iron nail 3 inches long (7.6 cm long).

At Farr Avenue School, Falcon's S.O.A.R...

I bet you had a lot of good examples about how to stay safe at school yesterday; and I wanted to share an example about how we can be safe at school. When we are at recess, we need to always make sure to walk on the blacktop and we need to make sure that we use all the equipment the right way because if we don't we could get hurt. Maybe that was something you shared with your friend or your teacher; and tomorrow I will share an example about how to stay safe in our community. And, remember...stay safe.

Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of the Indian independence movement against British rule, said, "Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."

And today, we have __________________ from ______________ class to lead you in the pledge.  Now, please stand...Put your right hand over your heart, ready begin...

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Special Announcements

Remember to please make sure that while you are in the office or library you are quiet and respectful of students taking MAP tests and SBAC exams.

Also remember to please stay out of planted and landscaped areas around school because we want all of our plants to grow!

Finally, remember to always stay safe on the playground, around our school, on your way to and from school.
Thank you for your attention to this morning's message, S.O.A.R. today, and remember to come to school every day and on time because when you miss school you miss out.
