Good Morning Farr Falcons!

This is Mr. Herman and today is the 174th day of school, Monday, June 12th, 2017. The forecast calls for partly sunny skies with a high of about 72 degrees.

Today is...

June 12 is Red Rose Day. It is an annual celebration of the universal symbol of love and romance - the humble, but beautiful red rose.

On This Day in History:

In 1987 Reagan challenges Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall - In one of his most famous Cold War speeches, President Ronald Reagan challenges Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall. Two years later, deliriously happy East and West Germans did break down the infamous barrier between East and West Berlin.

Here's Your Science Fact for Today:

The atmosphere is all around us and it’s made up of a layer of gases that surrounds the Earth.

At Farr Avenue School, Falcon's S.O.A.R...

This is our last full week of school and I wanted to remind you that we are reviewing what it means to be a Farr Falcon. What is it that good Falcons do? That's right, we SOAR, and last week we reviewed owning our school and acting responsibly, so that leaves...respecting everyone. Today, think about what respect is and share what you think it is with your classmates and teachers.

Michael Jordan, an American retired basketball player and regarded as one of the best ever, said, "Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it."

And today we have Daniel Marin from Ms. Young class to lead you in the pledge. Now, please stand...Put your right hand over your heart, ready begin...

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Special Announcements

Remember to please make sure that while you are in the office or library you are quiet and respectful of students taking MAP tests and SBAC exams.

Also remember to please stay out of planted and landscaped areas around school because we want all of our plants to grow!

Finally, remember to always stay safe on the playground, around our school, on your way to and from school.
Thank you for your attention to this morning's message, S.O.A.R. today, and remember to come to school every day and on time because when you miss school you miss out.
